OVERVIEW
Motivation is the force and direction guiding our actions; it may be compared to behavioural inertia. A key factor in our ability to switch from one habit to another is motivation.
But motivation shouldn't be seen as a transient sensation or emotion that we should aim to hold onto at all times. Developing sustained motivation may be facilitated by changing the way we see it, organising our surroundings, getting over it, and putting our attention on development.
