Habits

Realising that creating new habits and reaching success don't follow a straight line is crucial. There are always highs and lows, and occasionally you have to stop exercising. But it's crucial that this be a deliberate, well-considered concept with certain limitations. Avoid letting the break stem from your routines gradually unravelling. Saying to yourself something like this could be equivalent to this: "I am feeling unmotivated to work out right now, so I am going to purposefully take the next 7 days off of all forms of structured exercise and go travel, rest, and play, and then on X day I will resume my habit-forming behaviours and start with Y behaviour." There are two reasons why this matters: 1) It gives a precise explanation for the behaviour change and necessitates that the individual consider why they are stopping and when they will precisely start again. 2) You have to accept responsibility for the quick behaviour modification.
